In 2022, as Richmond continued to recover from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, local arts leaders came together to address a pressing question: How can Richmond heal and move forward through the power of the arts?
From these conversations, the concept of the Richmond Arts Corridor was born. After careful research and consultation with community arts organizations, a proposal was brought before the Richmond City Council. In response, the Council passed a resolution to designate Macdonald Avenue and 23rd Street with the vision of becoming a World-Class Arts Corridor in October 2024.

To ignite a renaissance of the arts and transform Richmond into a world-class arts destination that champions our local talent and youth, celebrates our cultural diversity, supports local businesses, and meaningfully involves our community.

We value the transformative power of the Arts to inspire, heal, beautify, and foster community.
We value equity and engaging community organizations and leaders throughout the process.
We value our city and take pride in improving Richmond and making it more beautiful through the arts.
We believe in development without displacement and in establishing the arts corridor in collaboration with community members and businesses.

Our passionate team of local artists, community leaders, and cultural advocates work together to transform Richmond into a thriving hub where art and culture connect, inspire, and empower our community.
These core partner organizations form the foundation of the Richmond Arts Corridor, working together to create a thriving creative ecosystem that serves our entire community.
